Trump\u00a0met with Russian President Vladimir Putin\u00a0on August 15 in Alaska. \u201cTrump\u2019s furious pace trying to move an extraordinarily complex conflict to resolution over the past two weeks was one of several significant mistakes,\u201d Bolton said.<\/p>\n The meeting, which many considered as a\u00a0victory for Putin, resulted in no ceasefire deal.<\/p>\n Following that\u00a0summit, Trump made a \u201cstunning about-face,\u201d his former national security adviser continued, noting the U.S. president abandoned his prior threats of imposing sanctions or tariffs if there was no agreement.<\/p>\n Days later, Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a group of European leaders at the White House. He then announced he planned to arrange a trilateral meeting with Putin, Zelensky and himself.<\/p>\n \u201cNone of this was realistic, and no meeting appears likely anytime soon,\u201d Bolton blasted.<\/p>\n He then concluded that the U.S. president\u2019s \u201cefforts over the last two-plus weeks may have left us further from peace and a just settlement for Ukraine than before.\u201d<\/p>\n The Independent\u00a0<\/em>has asked the White House for comment on Bolton\u2019s piece.<\/p>\n Hours after Friday\u2019s FBI raids, Trump said he wasn\u2019t aware of them until after they happened. \u201cI saw it on television this morning,\u201d he told reporters. The president noted that he \u201cwasn\u2019t a fan\u201d of Bolton.<\/p>\n \u201cMy house was raided also,\u201d Trump said, referring to the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago compound in 2022. \u201cSo I know the feeling. It\u2019s not a good feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n Just weeks prior to the raids, Bolton accused Trump of running a\u00a0\u201cretribution presidency.\u201d Earlier this year, the U.S. president revoked Bolton\u2019s security detail, which he received following threats against his life from Iran.<\/p>\n The former national security adviser isn\u2019t alone; in his\u00a0second term, Trump has targeted his\u00a0so-called political enemies,\u00a0including\u00a0law firms,\u00a0news organizations, former government officials,\u00a0ideological opponents, and\u00a0universities.<\/p>\n However, Trump and Bolton have had a feud since 2019, when the president asked his national security adviser to resign.
