{"id":2506,"date":"2025-12-25T12:49:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T12:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.cedritech.com\/?p=2506"},"modified":"2025-12-25T12:49:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T12:49:11","slug":"3-chicago-area-teens-charged-in-sexual-assault-of-classmate-at-graduation-party-prosecutors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cedritech.com\/?p=2506","title":{"rendered":"3 Chicago area teens charged in sexual assault of classmate at graduation party: prosecutors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>The Brief<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Three teens were charged with the sexual assault of their classmate during a graduation party in June.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Each of the suspects was charged with criminal sexual assault and taken into custody this month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A judge ordered one of the suspects to remain in jail while the other two were released.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>ROSELLE, Ill.<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Three suburban teens were charged in connection with\u00a0the sexual assault of their classmate\u00a0during a graduation party in\u00a0DuPage County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>What we know<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The assault took place back in June during a Saint Viator High School graduation party when the suspects allegedly sexually assaulted the victim in a minivan in\u00a0Roselle, according to the DuPage County State\u2019s Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Kevin Niemiec, 18, of Prospect Heights, Zachary Mascolo, 18, of Arlington Heights, and Jon Clary II, 18, of Bartlett, were all charged with criminal sexual assault.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"relative mb-4\">\n<div class=\"relative\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"rounded-lg\" src=\"https:\/\/s.yimg.com\/ny\/api\/res\/1.2\/5OC8kmljottTRGtZ2n2ijQ--\/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTU0MDtjZj13ZWJw\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/wfld_fox_local_articles_610\/27fe346db66c3d84416b42af17485be7\" alt=\"&lt;div&gt;Kevin Niemiec, Zachary Mascolo, and Jon Clary II.&lt;\/div&gt;&lt;strong&gt;(DuPage County State's Attorney's Office)&lt;\/strong&gt;\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" data-nimg=\"1\" \/><\/div><figcaption class=\"relative text-sm mt-1 pr-2.5\">\n<div>\n<div>Kevin Niemiec, Zachary Mascolo, and Jon Clary II.<\/div>\n<p><strong>(DuPage County State&#8217;s Attorney&#8217;s Office)<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A judge ordered Niemiec to remain in jail. Mascolo and Clary were allowed pre-trial release but were also ordered not to possess or consume alcohol or have any contact with the victim or her family, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Roselle police were notified of the alleged assault on June 15, which took place sometime the night before. After the assault, the victim went to a friend\u2019s home, where she contacted her sister, who told their parents. The victim\u2019s parents immediately picked up the victim and brought her to a local hospital for medical attention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A judge ordered arrest warrants for the three suspects on Dec. 17.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mascolo was taken into custody on Sunday while he was driving near his home. Clary and Niemiec turned themselves into the DuPage County Jail on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>What they&#8217;re saying<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The allegations levied against these defendants are extremely serious,&#8221; said DuPage County State\u2019s Attorney Robert Berlin in a statement. &#8220;A graduation party is a celebration of accomplishments and the excitement of a bright future. It is alleged that Mr. Clary, Mr. Mascolo and Mr. Niemiec violated the victim in the worst possible way and inflicted a lasting harm on a young woman.
