{"id":2755,"date":"2026-03-06T18:21:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T18:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.cedritech.com\/?p=2755"},"modified":"2026-03-06T18:21:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T18:21:14","slug":"donald-trumps-presidential-approval-rating-shifts-after-iran-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cedritech.com\/?p=2755","title":{"rendered":"Donald Trump&#8217;s presidential approval rating shifts after Iran war"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Donald Trump&#8217;s presidential approval rating was on the rise after the\u00a0State of the Union\u00a0address, but the Feb. 28 attack on Iran has given the president and the\u00a0Iran war\u00a0mixed reviews among Americans in the polls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The\u00a0president hit all-time low job approval\u00a0numbers in this term just prior to his State of the Union address, however American sentiment of his speech proved positive, according to the\u00a0Economist\/YouGov\u00a0poll, getting 57% positive reviews of the speech versus 32% that felt it was poor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As Trump&#8217;s approval numbers were on the rise after the SOTU, Saturday&#8217;s attack on Iran and the ensuing war have drawn a heavily\u00a0polarized public sentiment on the street and in the polling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While many people took to the streets and\u00a0rallied in celebration\u00a0over the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and calling for the end of the Iranian regime, many took to the same streets to\u00a0protest the war with concerns over escalating Middle East violence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In a\u00a0Trafalgar Group poll\u00a0taken after the attack on Iran, 53.9% approved of Operation Epic Fury versus 40.6% that disapproved, meanwhile Trump&#8217;s overall job approval rating of 49.5% did not fare as well, but was above water with a 48% disapproval rating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In a\u00a0Fox News\u00a0national survey 61% of those polled believe Iran poses\u00a0&#8220;a real national security threat&#8221; to the United States, however this didn&#8217;t translate into support for the war, which polled 50\/50 for and against, or Trump&#8217;s job rating on foreign policy, which polled a 60% disapproval rate. The president&#8217;s overall job performance rating polled at 43% approval.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Other recent polls taken this week by\u00a0CNN,\u00a0NBC\u00a0and\u00a0YouGov, found a majority of voters disapprove of Iran strikes or Trump&#8217;s handling of the attack, expressing fears of escalation. However, the president&#8217;s overall approval ratings have slightly risen since prior to the Iran war.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mb-4 text-xl font-bold md:text-2xl\">What is Donald Trump presidential approval rating today?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><strong>Trump&#8217;s presidential approval rating today is 43.3%<\/strong>\u00a0that approve of his job performance versus 54.8% that disapprove, according to RealClearPolling. It declined from an initial high of 50.5% approval and 44.3% disapproval rating when he took office in January 2025, albeit up from the recent all-time lows around Feb. 17, 2026, hitting\u00a0<strong>42% approval and 55.5% disapproval<\/strong>. Trump&#8217;s first term average approval numbers were 42.8% former President Joe Biden&#8217;s overall approval rating was 43.2%.<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-md:faux-bleed mb-4 bg-marshmallow pb-5 dark:bg-ramones md:invisible md:mb-0 md:h-0 md:overflow-hidden md:pb-0\">\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-nowrap justify-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul class=\"mb-4\">\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to\u00a0Rasmussen Reports\u00a0daily polling on March 5, Trump&#8217;s approval is 45% today, same as it was prior to the Iran war.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The\u00a0Quantus Insights\u00a0poll found a 45% approval rating between March 2-3, up from 43% prior to the war.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The\u00a0Economist\/YouGov\u00a0poll\u00a0ending March 2 found a 42% job approval rating versus 56% that disapprove, down from 43% approval prior to the Iran war.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The\u00a0Fox News poll\u00a0ending March 2 found a 43% job approval rating versus 44% approval prior to the Iran war.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ml-4 list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">RealClear Polling\u00a0which takes the average of over 14 pollsters including Reuters\/Ipsos, CBS News, Quinnipiac, Harvard-Harris and more, shows\u00a0<strong>Trump&#8217;s overall favorability is currently at 43.3% as of March 5<\/strong>, up slightly from 42.7% prior to his SOTU address and Iran war.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Note: Polls are constantly changing and different pollsters ask opinions of different segments of the population.
