Six\u00a0U.S. service members have been killed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Trump has said the Iran attacks could last for weeks \u2014 if not longer. This lack of a clear timeline triggered a sense of deja vu within one GOP lawmaker who spoke to\u00a0<em>Politico<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cSounds a little bit like President Lyndon Johnson going into Vietnam, doesn\u2019t it?\u201d the lawmaker said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Johnson, a Democrat, inherited the Vietnam war upon President John Kennedy&#8217;s assassination in 1963. And imminent means like, imminent \u2014 not like something that\u2019s been over a 47-year period of time,\u201d Republican Rep. Warren Davidson, of Ohio, said this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Rep. Eli Crane, an Arizona Republican, described the current situation as \u201cvery dicey\u201d in an interview Monday. \u201cMilitary operations like this can go sideways so fast, you know, it will make your head spin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Many Democrats have also criticized the attacks as\u00a0illegal and unwise, while key MAGA influencers portrayed them as a blatant departure from the president\u2019s &#8220;America First&#8221; priorities. A recent Reuters survey indicates that just one in four Americans support the president\u2019s military campaign in Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Trump officials and GOP leaders have sought to quell fears by dismissing concerns that has the potential to become an open-ended conflict.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe operation will be wound up quickly, by God\u2019s grace and will,\u201d House Speaker Mike Johnson told colleagues during a briefing Monday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-md:faux-bleed mb-4 bg-marshmallow pb-5 dark:bg-ramones md:invisible md:mb-0 md:h-0 md:overflow-hidden md:pb-0\">\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-nowrap justify-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Some Republicans on Capitol Hill also seem to be allowing some time for the operation to play out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI think so far, the Pentagon seems to have a good plan,\u201d Rep. Jeff Crank, a Colorado Republican, said. He added he would allow Trump \u201csix weeks or \u2026 eight weeks or whatever we need to accomplish the missions that we set out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Thursday, the House is set to vote on a\u00a0war powers resolution\u00a0that aims to rein in the president.
