In addition to the confirmed deaths, six people were treated or transported by emergency responders to be treated for storm-related injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cAccess has been difficult due to blocked roadways and downed utilities, but crews have continued pushing forward to reach those in need,\u201d Wise county judge JD Clark said in a Sunday morning\u00a0press briefing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">At least 20 families have been displaced, and many homes sustained major damage, according to initial reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The National Weather Service has\u00a0reported\u00a0that severe weather is likely to continue over the coming days, and that flash flooding is possible.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Storms have battered the central US over the past week, with more than 30 tornadoes and over 230 reports of hail, according to AccuWeather.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">At least 10 people were injured after a massive\u00a0tornado struck\u00a0northern\u00a0Oklahoma\u00a0on Thursday night. Approximately 40 homes were damaged, and light damage was reported at a nearby air force base. Though injuries were reported, there were no confirmed fatalities.\u00a0Videos\u00a0shared\u00a0online revealed the unbelievable strength of the twister, as debris was sucked up into the rapidly rotating column of air.<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-md:faux-bleed mb-4 bg-accent\/2 pb-5 md:invisible md:mb-0 md:h-0 md:overflow-hidden md:pb-0\">\n<div class=\"py-2 text-center text-xs uppercase\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-nowrap justify-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mere days after being ravaged by the twisters, residents across the plains are bracing for more even more severe weather.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople in towns from Oklahoma to Kansas and northwestern Missouri should prepare for storms capable of producing tornadoes, large hail and damaging wind gusts over 70mph,\u201d Tyler Roys, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTornadoes that strike after dark or are wrapped in rain are especially dangerous because they can be nearly impossible to see. Everyone in the region should be ready to act quickly and have multiple ways to receive warnings and alerts that can wake you overnight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In south-east Georgia, two massive wildfires had burnt more than 40,000 acres (16,000 hectares) and decimated 120 homes by Sunday morning after\u00a0raging\u00a0for\u00a0days\u00a0amid\u00a0drought conditions\u00a0in the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">One, labeled the Highway 82 fire, has been burning since 20 April and has destroyed at least 87 homes. Brian Kemp, the Georgia governor, confirmed that the fire was started by a foil balloon hitting live power lines. As of Sunday afternoon, the fire had\u00a0grown\u00a0to 20,933 acres, and was only 7% contained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got the two most dangerous, biggest, problematic fires anywhere in the United States within just a very small area that we\u2019re having to fight, so as you can imagine, it\u2019s a lot for us to have to deal with,\u201d Kemp said during a\u00a0Friday news conference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to the Georgia forestry commission, the Highway 82 fire has caused the most significant home loss that the state has ever experienced from a single wildfire<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The second fire, referred to as the Pineland Road fire, started over the weekend on mostly private forest land near the state line that divides Georgia from Florida to the south. That blaze began after someone was welding their gate, according to the governor, and sparks flew and undergrowth caught alight.
