{"id":3666,"date":"2026-08-07T09:43:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T09:43:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.cedritech.com\/?p=3666"},"modified":"2026-08-07T09:43:32","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T09:43:32","slug":"student-kills-at-least-6-in-a-shooting-at-a-high-school-in-thailand-authorities-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cedritech.com\/?p=3666","title":{"rendered":"Student kills at least 6 in a shooting at a high school in Thailand, authorities say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">NONTHABURI, Thailand (AP) \u2014 A student shot several people at a high school outside Bangkok on Friday, killing at least six people and wounding several others, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The shooting happened at the Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province northwest of the national capital, Royal Thai Police spokesperson Trairong Piwpan told The Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A witness told reporters that students hid inside a classroom while they heard gunshots from another building before police officers knocked on the door and cleared a way for them to leave the building.<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-md:faux-bleed mb-4 bg-accent\/2 pb-5 md:invisible md:mb-0 md:h-0 md:overflow-hidden md:pb-0\">\n<div class=\"py-2 text-center text-xs uppercase\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-nowrap justify-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">About an hour after the shooting, people stood outside the school comforting one another and police and first responders walked around inside the school.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mb-4\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Authorities gave conflicting information on the casualties that could not immediately be reconciled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Trairong told news broadcaster Channel 3 the shooter was being hospitalized in serious condition and 15 others were injured, with two in critical condition. He said three teachers and three students were killed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Health Minister Pattana Promphat said 22 people were injured with nine in critical condition. Some were injured from causes such as falls, and it wasn&#8217;t clear how many were shot.<\/p>\n<div class=\"max-md:faux-bleed mb-4 bg-accent\/2 pb-5 md:invisible md:mb-0 md:h-0 md:overflow-hidden md:pb-0\">\n<div class=\"py-2 text-center text-xs uppercase\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-nowrap justify-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee told reporters at the scene that five teachers died and that the shooter killed his two grandparents at home before going to the school. He also said the shooter died at a hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Trairong said the motive was still being investigated.
