Guests at Six Flags New England were in for an unplanned thrill last week when a roller coaster got stuck mid-ride, forcing them to climb along the side of the tracks in an evacuation.
Dramatic footage captured by TikToker @jordyyn.m and shared with Newsflare shows the aftermath of the towering Superman: The Ride roller coaster seemingly malfunctioning at the Agawam, Mass., park on Friday, April 24.
According to Newsflare, the coaster got stuck just as a car filled with riders approached the highest point, forcing them to get out of their seats and climb down the edge of the tracks on the towering structure.

The person who filmed the moment said passengers were left stranded in the air after the coaster stalled mid-ride, prompting staff to begin evacuation procedures, according to Newsflare.
As the camera zooms in on the coaster, individuals in orange vests who appear to be staff members can be seen leading a line of riders down a steep staircase after they exited the car.
PEOPLE has reached out to Six Flags New England for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
According to the park’s website, Superman: The Ride reaches a speed of 77 miles per hour over a length of 5,400 feet. The whole ride takes 90 seconds and reaches a maximum elevation of 208 feet.
According to the park, the coaster is for the ultimate thrill seekers who should “expect to be made into jelly after riding.”
“After plummeting straight down like a comet from Krypton, you’ll soar along on a wide-weaving trajectory of arching climbs and sweeping swoops, through broken barriers, a blur of obstacles, and dark, diving tunnels. Was that your voice that just broke, or the sound barrier??” the park playfully adds in its description of the ride.

The Massachusetts theme park made headlines again earlier this month when it debuted its new record-breaking roller coaster, the Quantum Accelerator. The “family-friendly thrill ride” is the property’s 12th roller coaster and the first dual-launch straddle coaster in New England.
According to the park’s website, the new ride is “unlike traditional roller coasters,” as it starts off by launching riders from 0 to 30 miles per hour rather than beginning with the usual uphill climb.

Once riders are halfway through the ride, they will then be launched at an even faster speed of 45 miles per hour for the remaining time on the coaster. In addition to the two launches, the ride promises a number of exciting “twists and turns” as well as “11 moments of airtime.”
The ride officially opened to the public on Friday, April 17.
